Westwood Lake Park In Nanaimo BC

Took the entire walk around the park on well groomed paths, just an amazing time there. Lots of trails and plenty of places to walk long or short, definitely an off the beaten track place for visitors to the city though I see the locals know all about this gem.

Our whole experience was eThe walk has some ups and downs so a short climbing ability is required. Not for people on wheel chairs or walkers. It is a windy spot on a windy day as it is right on the ocean.

Really, this is solitude on the edge of a city. Great walking train, lots of nature. Activities nearby, including restaurants, tennis courts, retreat centre, and tranquility on the edge of a busy city.

One of the bi love taking my dog for a run/walk around the lake. it’s about 6 km so it will take you anywhere from 1-2 hours walking, which is a really nice way to start your mornings. and down the road is the local SPCA with tons of critters waiting for you. amazing little nature spot. lots of trees, water and turtles!!

This is a very popular walking trail, about 5 km loop around the lake. Most of the loop is flat, but there is a steep and challenging but short area at the end of the lake, One can come across deer on the tree covered trail. Enjoy the water, either directly by swimming or renting a kayak or paddle board from the nearby resort. There is a public restroom on site near the parking lot.
