Being new to town we had to check out this theater. We were able pick up pretty good seats last minute to Colin James second show. The sound , Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter is part of the original economic core of the city. Buildings in the area date from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
The theatre is easy to reach with parking close by. We saw Colin James and he put on a brilliant show to a packed house (800+ people).
We were higher up in the theatre and the sound was loud but not too much. Drinks and snacks were available during the intermission but you couldn’t take anything into the theatre, only water. People were up dancing to the music and nobody tried to stop them, very relaxed atmosphere.
The map shows the area’s boundaries. The Old City Quarter has undergone a revitalization of heritage buildings along with the addition of new developments which complement the period architecture. A revitalization program in the early 1980s attracted upmarket retailers. There are over 20 restaurants and 30 shops in the area, as well as professional services and the historic train station.
