This spot is very warm and welcoming and busy! The atmosphere is enhanced by the setting of the repurposed heritage house and eccentric decor choices. The service was quick and the food was great. There were a couple of staff (I’m guessing the owners) that would come around specifically to check in on the table enquiring how everything was. The meal ended in true European fashion with the traditional digestif offering. Very much enjoyed everything about this experience and we will be back.
I came on a busy night with no reservation and they accommodated me. Great menu plus they had 5 specials. Good selection of seafood. Small packed room. Staff very friendly. Set in an old house in the North downtown.
I have eaten at Asterias many times and look forward to it but tonight unfortunately was a letdown, To make matters worse we had invited friends to join us. Usually the food here is excellent and so is the service but tonight I ordered the moussaka and it was so overcooked that the béchamel topping was tough and almost to the point of being burned. The carrots were barely cooked and everything was only lukewarm. Everyone else’s dinner at our table was not hot. They were willing to make new meals for us but we had already waited too long to be served. Several tables that arrived after us were served before us.
